Four Barcelona players have been ruled out of the Atletico Madrid game on Saturday night. The Catalan giants are guests of Atletico Madrid at the new Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid in what’s the standout game of week ten in the Spanish La Liga. The quartet of Sergio Busquets, Samuel Umtiti, Ronald Araujo and Ansu Fatiwon’t be part of the Barcelona squad for the game.
Young defender Ronald Araujo has been missing since he sustained a knee injury during the impressive win over Juventus in the Champions League last month. He impressed as Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal of the game to hand the immediate past Spanish champions a 1-0 win at the home of the Italians. Araujo will continue to recuperate on the sidelines.
Young attacker Ansu Fati will also miss the Atletico Madrid match because of the knee injury that he sustained in the last game, a 5-2 victory over Real Betis at home. He won’t play again this year after the player wad ruled out for four months.
Fati was also not part of history during the international break as Spain thrashed Germany 6-0 in their UEFA Nations League outing thereby inflicting the biggest competitive defeat ever on the Germans. Ahead of the game in Seville, Germany needed a point to qualify for the finals, while Spain required any form of win to secure qualification. In the end, Spain got way more than what they needed against the Germans.
Sergio Busquets also missed the big win over Germany because of an injury picked up during the previous UEFA Nations League outing at Switzerland which ended in a 1-1 draw. He will also miss the Atletico Madrid game with new signing Miralem Pjanic set to take his place in the starting XI. Samuel Umtiti is still recovering from injury and would not be involved against Atletico Madrid who are the lone unbeaten team in the Spanish topflight.
