Ulises Davila has welcomed the possible transfer of compatriot Carlos Vela to the Australian A-League. Mexican midfielder Davilashowed his support for the move in a chat with The Herald as he revealed that he spoke to LAFC (Los Angeles FC) striker Vela after the ex-Arsenal and Real Sociedad attacker declaredan interest in playing Australian A-League footballearlier this year.

New Macarthur FC of Australia captain Davila said that it would be amazing ifthe Australian league can attract quality players like Carlos Vela. According to him, Vela would love life in the Australian A-League.The midfielder went on to say that he has known Carlos Vela since the age of 15 and that he’s good with the ball at his feet in addition to him being one of the best Mexican players of all time in his opinion.

Vela, 32, could end his four-year spell in the MLS (Major League Soccer) after his LAFC contract came to an end. The Mexican attacker has been with LAFC since their inaugural MLS season and he scored 57 goals in 86 appearances. Vela has dealt with several injury setbacks since winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award in the MLS two years ago.

The greatest obstacle to signing Vela could be finance as he was the highest player in the MLS this year,earning$6.3m including a base salary of $4.5m.

The Australian A-League has seen the influx ofbig name players such as Jack Rodwell and Daniel Sturridge. Rodwell has signed for Western Sydney Wanderers, while Sturridgeis on the payroll of Perth Glory. Ex-Liverpool and Chelsea striker Sturridge is the biggest Australian A-League import since Italian football legend Alessandro Del Piero signed for Sydney FC.
